Flood Prevention
The Company has just completed the programme of works to protect the borehole that proved vulnerable to flooding in December 2006.
A 1.5 metre high bund wall now protects the pump house and the borehole casing has been raised by 1.2 metres. This gives a good safety margin against future events as the depth of the flood water in 2006 was aproximately 0.3 metres.
The Environment Agency have made a major contribution by clearing the bed and banks of the river Bourne in the appropriate areas. The company's own staff have removed obstructions from under a bridge. These works will allow water run-off from the road surfaces in storm conditions to flow downstream freely.
